Family Dentistry
When we have children we are constantly thinking about their health. We read books on what to expect, we prepare ourselves by educating ourselves on how to take care of our child. We arrange visits to the pediatrician, and are constantly doing everything we can to make sure they are born, and remain, healthy. However, many people often overlook the importance of dental health in addition to physical health. In fact, keeping your mouth healthy is a crucial part of maintaining overall general health.
Family dentistry provides much of the same care as general dentistry; however, there is a difference between the two. Some dentists limit their patients to a certain age group. Family dentists, however, provide dental services to people of all ages.
Preventative Care
Family dentistry is seen as preventative care because family dentists are the defenders against dental problems. You should visit your family dentist at least one every six months. They will take x-rays, and give your teeth a deep, thorough cleaning to help prevent plaque and tooth decay. Family dentists can also help you by providing detailed instructions on how to maintain oral health and prevent problems.
It is extremely important for you to maintain your oral hygiene, and even more important for your children. Regular visits to your family dentist can help to both prevent dental issues and treat them.
