Choosing a Cosmetic Dentist
You smile is one of the most important aspects of communicating with people. Your first impression on others is a lasting one, so you want it to be the best it can be. When it comes time to improve your smile choosing a cosmetic dentist should be done with planning and care.
Cosmetic dentistry is an art that takes creative talent as well as training. Dr. Mike Deldar and Dr. Sohaila Deldar are graduates of the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), where the most talented cosmetic dentists receive premier post-graduate training in innovative dentistry techniques.
As cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers become more popular, cosmetic dentists are becoming more competitive. That brings up some good and bad news.
The good news is...
Today's cosmetic dentists are motivated to obtain better training and to use state-of-the-art equipment. This means more skilled talent and fewer poorly trained dentists are available in this segment of dentistry.
Lower prices are a natural result of an increased supply of services. Also, as more cosmetic dentists enter the market equipment prices drop lowering dentists’ overhead.
The bad news...
Some dentists will offer bargain prices but perform sub-standard work. Pricing alone is not a deciding factor. Low pricing may be merely an introductory method intended to build a new practice, but this can warn of a less-experienced cosmetic dentist. Others with experience but less talent may resort to low pricing as their best opportunity to compete.
When you are ready for your smile makeover, or any cosmetic dentistry correction, please contact Dr. Mike Deldar for a no-cost consultation in the Indianapolis, Noblesville, Carmel, Indiana area.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
The temporomandibular joints are located on either side of the face, just in front of both ears. These joints connect the jaw to the skull. The temporomandibular joint is a very complex joint, allowing us to open our mouth wide and move our jaw from side to side. However, when there is an imbalance in the temporomandibular joint, temporomandibular joint disorder, often referred to as TMD or TMJ, can result.
There are a number of symptoms of TMJ, including:
- Ringing in the ears
- Facial pain
- Neck pain
- Severe headaches, often confused with migraines
- Cracking of the jaw
Because the above-listed symptoms are rather common and do not occur in the mouth, most who experience them seek the help of a medical doctor. Since most do not think a dentist will be able to help them if they are experienced facial pain or headaches, TMJ often goes undiagnosed for a long period of time. TMJ is most often caused by a misaligned bite, however, and neuromuscular dentists are much more qualified to both diagnose and treat TMJ.
Treatment
Treatment for TMJ is usually given in three steps. First, the dentist will relax your jaw muscles by increasing the blood flow, which will relieve you of your pain. Second, a mouthpiece will be used in order to correct your bite. The third, and final, step will be to make this improved bite permanent. This can be achieved in a number of ways, including reconstruction or orthodontics.
If you live in the Indianapolis, Indiana are and would like to learn more about TMJ, please contact the experienced neuromuscular dentists at Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry & TMJ today for your initial consultation.

Pure Power Mouthguard
Whether you're a seasoned athlete playing in the major leagues, or a middle-aged man just wanting to get back into the sport you played in high school, the Pure Power Mouthguard is something you should know about. Athletes are always looking for that little advantage to make them a little bit faster and a little bit stronger. Although your jaw is not really what you think of when wondering where to get that advantage, the ability of the pure power mouthguard to align your jaw helps athletes train longer and harder.
The Pure Power Mouthguard is just that – a mouthguard. However, this mouthguard is custom-designed using computer technology by experienced, expert dentists in order to fit only your mouth. The mouthguard will naturally align your jaw, which allows for better oxygen flow, balance and even better endurance during either training or competition.
The Pure Power Mouthguard aligns the temporomandibular joint in the jaw. The temporomandibular joint is a very complex intersection of nerves, muscles and tendons, and this joint is misaligned, can lead to muscle pains, aches, stiffness, even severe headaches. Proper alignment of your jaw can cure these symptoms, allowing for better performance in competition and allow an athlete to train longer without experiencing stiffness.
Whether you are a professional athlete or just an amateur, if you want improved performance, the Pure Power Mouthguard is for you.

Sedation Dentistry
Millions of Americans avoid going to the dentist for various reasons. Most of them are simply afraid. The dentist has had a long-held reputation for being a scary place to visit, and if you avoid regular dentist visits because of fright, you are definitely not alone. Sedation dentistry, however, is a very safe option to eliminate fear of the dentist and ensure that you obtain the proper dental care you need.
Severe fright and anxiety caused by visiting the dentist is a common occurrence. Sedation dentistry, however, uses FDA-approved medications to help curb that anxiety and make you feel relaxed and comfortable. There are a number of different types of sedation dentistry available for use, however nitrous oxide and oral sedation are the two most popular and most effective.
Nitrous oxide is a gas that is inhaled in small amounts in order to relax the patient. The gas is inhaled through a mask and takes only a few short minutes to take effect and for you to be ready to receive whatever dental procedure necessary. Oral sedation is the type of sedation provided through a pill. Most often you will be given a pill to take the night before your visit, shortly before your visit and maybe during your visit. While you are under oral sedation, you will be responsive and awake during your visit, but it is unlikely you will be able to remember any of it. This is the same for nitrous oxide, although you will not be as responsive as you would under oral sedation. Regardless of the type of sedation used, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home after your appointment.
Sedation dentistry is a wonderful breakthrough in technology that allows those who are afraid of the dentist to obtain the crucial dental care that is necessary in order to maintain overall good health.
If you are an Indianapolis, Indiana resident and are interested in learning more about sedation dentistry, please contact the experienced dentists at Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry & TMJ today for your initial consultation.

Smile Makeover
Your smile is the first thing people see. It is a very important part of a first impression, and can also help boost self-esteem and self-image. If you have teeth that are discolored, cracked, crooked or misaligned, a smile makeover may be the answer you've been looking for.
A smile makeover is a term that refers to many different cosmetic procedures that combine to fix every flaw in your mouth. There are such procedures as tooth whitening, porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns, dental bonding, orthodontics, dental implants and neuromuscular dentistry. You may need one or all of these procedures to give you the smile you crave, and your experienced cosmetic dentist can help you determine exactly what the best procedures are for your individual smile.
A smile makeover not only fixes the outward appearance of your smile by fixing things such as discoloration or cracks, but also fixes the overall health of your mouth. Neuromuscular dentistry, for example, can be used to realign your jaw in order to cure temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). A smile makeover will not only make you look better, but feel better as well. Oral hygiene and health is a crucial part of maintaining good overall health, and with a smile makeover you could be on the road to a healthier lifestyle.
If you would like to learn more about smile makeovers or the various procedures involved, please contact the experienced cosmetic dentists at Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry & TMJ in Indianapolis, Indiana today for your initial consultation.

Choosing a Cosmetic Dentist
A smile makes a lasting impression upon people and helps you have self-confidence. If you have flaws in your teeth such as discoloration, chips, cracks, gaps, missing teeth, or crooked teeth, cosmetic dentistry may be the answer. Cosmetic dentistry can fix your teeth, helping to improve your self-image as well as your overall health. Choosing a cosmetic dentist, however, is a very important part of the process.
Experience and education are two of the most important characteristics to look for in a cosmetic dentist. The Las Vegas Institute (LVI) offers training, and it is always a good sign of education if your cosmetic dentist is LVI-trained. Experience is another very important factor. Experience provides a dentist with the opportunity to perfect his or her methods and results. If cosmetic dentistry is a prominent feature in his or her practice, then chances are the dentist is very experienced in performing cosmetic procedures.
Another important factor if choosing the right cosmetic dentist is affordability. It is a common misconception that cosmetic dental procedures are only affordable for the rich. Many cosmetic dentists offer financing, accept dental insurance policies, and even accept most major credit cards. The saying "you get what you pay for," however, also rings true. Do not choose your dentist solely based on their price. Experience, education and skill are also extremely key in receiving the cosmetic dental work that will make you feel great about your smile.
